Beyond the Mists

"Helping" Rent-a-Roc

So the Rent-a-Roc outfit in Gresham is having a little problem with missing eggs. Who would have thought it would lead to murder.

Rent-a-Roc hasn’t been happy with the level of support they’ve been getting from local law enforcement so they hire a small band of expendables to look into it. An overnight stake-out yields positive results when commotion in the nest reveals a lizard-man attempting to pilfer yet another fresh Roc egg. As the thief attempts to exit the 2nd floor window a lucky tomahawk throw tears through his abdomen, taking his spleen-analog quivering to the street below. With nothing left to interrogate the team are left to the tracking skills of a scary-looking hobbit.

An early morning stroll reveals a small cave with tracks leading in and out consistent with the deceased thief. The mighty gnome, Emoran, took it upon himself to investigate. Unfortunately, upon discovering the bedroom of a small band of Lizardmen, they became aware of his presence. A mighty battle ensued and Emoran took down the last of the five residents as his own consciousness waned. Some quick work by the healer Liz and Emoran was saved as well as a Lizardman.

Considerable pantomime ensued as the language barrier proved too difficult for reasoned discourse with the subdued resident. Searching the lair revealed a storage room where several of the missing Roc eggs were found. Reaching the conclusion that the masters of house must have been behind the thefts the party scales the hill to find a small isolated retreat dug into the crest. Who knows what the team planned, but the first blow struck against the Dragonmen couple struck deep and true as the assassin’s blade cleaved her heart it two.

Contrite, but a bit confused on their purpose here the party leaves the retreat to the Lizardman hostage and returns to Rent-A-Roc with the recovered eggs. The grateful manager only half listens to the story constructed to minimize the brutal nature of the recovery operation. Satisfied that his problem has been solved. Rewarding the party with the agreed upon sum, and contributes a round trip token for each member of the team. Additionally, contacts are exchanged that would allow him to engage your services in the future should the need arize.
